Though Isaac is clearly the dominant party, Abimelech has already identified his might in v.16, saying: “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we,” Isaac chooses to turn the othe cheek, to let himself be wronged and to rely on God rather than take matters into his own hands, defending his honor and possessions.
